CHIP authorization expired on October 1, why hasn't that been fixed?
DACA's end and dealing with Dreamers has been in the news for months, why was nothing done?
Why is funding for Community Health Centers unknown?
And bad enough that these issues haven't been dealt with, but as longtime Congressional observer Norman Ornstein points out, the rest of the government wasn't paid for by the GOP either, including the military.
Largely missing from cable bloviating: why are we doing continuing resolutions over & over again when the Republican Congress had the votes to do the spending bill for the year that begin October 1? Forget the shutdown blame game . Focus on utter irresponsibility of GOP Congress.

And the answer is because Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell decided that trying to mess up Obamacare (AGAIN!) and jamming through the Piece of Shit tax bill without public hearings were higher priorities over the last 4 1/2 months over reauthorizing CHIP and passing DACA - two bills that have large bipartisan agreement in both houses of Congress and would have passed with relative ease.
This article sums up the shameless game that GOPs are trying to play, and it's not one that you teach in HS Government class.
Wolffe: " the GOP believes it is the only party that can shut down government as a negotiating tactic. The Democrats’ job is to keep that government open and to cave in to its demands." https://t.co/KUy7xYUkCx

So after 4 1/2 months of dallying, Lyin Ryan and Turtle McConnell are trying to get Dems to bail them out of the easily-foreseen consequences of their bad choices. Without the Dems getting anything that they would want? With a CR that would still only fund things for 1 month and we'd lurch to another funding crisis in February? FUCK THAT. Shut it down until the GOPs start being serious, and end the political game-playing.
There's also a part of me that wonders if there is another reason that Trump and the Republicans were OK with a shutdown happening over the weekend. Because the DC-centric political media didn't spend as much time talking about this.

The people are so far ahead of the bought-off, incompetent gerrymandered GOP that our electoral system has allowed to be in charge. This disparity has to end in 2018.
