More proof that Wisconsin's manufacturing tax cut is a costly waste

Republicans and their puppetmasters at WMC are still trying to sell this line of BS.

And he quotes cherry-picked BS from Koched-up hack Noah Williams to "prove" his point? I got a little perturbed by this lying lobbyist, and had to respond.

It's a lot worse than I let on in those two tweets. If you look at the always-strong QCEW map website, you’ll notice that Wisconsin was 4th in the nation for manufacturing jobs from December 2009 to December 2010, with more than 12,000 jobs added in the final year of Jim Doyle’s tenure in office.

That was a bounce-back of growth in 2010 at a rate 4 times faster than the country as a whole (2.8% in Wisconsin, 0.7% in the US). So Scott Walker entered office with Wisconsin’s manufacturing sector in a strong and improving place.

For the first two years of Walker’s time in office, Wisconsin continued to lead the country in adding manufacturing jobs. But in the final two years of Walker’s first term, that gap started to narrow.

2013 was the first year that the M&A credit began, and if you go over its history, you'll see that it was gradually phased in to its full amount in 2016. With the M&A tax credit in full effect during most of Walker’s second term, that gap must have widened more, and led to the state having massive job growth in the sector, right?

Not so much.

Yet again, this is more evidence that the M&A tax credit not help add manufacturing jobs in Wisconsin, or improve wages. If anything, it may have held back manufacturing jobs, as Wisconsin has trailed the US rate of growth since the M&A credit started in 2013.

And we have the worst wages in manufacturing jobs in the Midwest on top of it. So how was the economy improved in Wisconsin for more than $250 million a year that we gave away to these corporations? Let's also not forget that manufacturers also got a break due to the GOP’s Tax Scam after 2017, which means those Wisconsin businesses now have a double tax cut.

ENOUGH! If Scotty from WMC wasn't a crooked, foolish white Manley, he would have shut up and let the GOP bury this topic as they finish up changes on a budget that lets his bosses continue their free ride. Because the more people that know about how much the rich and corporate have been getting away with, the more they will want to get rid of the GOP puppets that work for WMC.

  1. Lying Lobbyist needs to have a reporter ask, "Why are manufacturing wages lower in Wisconsin than in any of the states it borders?"
    Lying Lobbyist is a tool.
