Add #12 to the still-high level of Wisconsin COVID cases

Just when you think it's a special season in Green Bay, we get reminded that something stupid ALWAYS seems to pop up.

Not necessarily stupid in itself, as it looks like the virus is going through the team a bit. But then it got dumber.

#Packers QB Aaron Rodgers received homeopathic treatment from his personal doctor to raise his antibody levels and asked the NFL to review his status. The NFL, NFLPA and joint docs ruled him as unvaccinated. Now, he has COVID-19.

ARE YOU F****ING KIDDING ME? There goes this week's game and the inside track on home field. So damn selfish.

But Number 12 is far from alone in Wisconsinites getting COVID these days, especially in the Northern half of the state. After October saw new cases decline for most of the month, it's leveled off in the last week at a still-high number.

And breaking those cases down by county, you can see that the two most-populated counties in Wisconsin (Milwaukee and Dane) are among the lowest levels of new cases, while COVID continues to be more rampant up North.

Brown County isn't in the red zone, but they have seen new cases come up over the last 14 days at a rate that is 2 1/2 times larger than Dane County and more than double the rate of Milwaukee's new cases. Not good, although Brown County has vaccination rates slightly above the state rate, it's still below 60% and it does feel like there has been a ceiling hit on people age 12+ getting vaccinated.

Fortunately, children 5-11 will be getting shots soon, and that DHS notes how children ages 4-13 are having a higher rate of cases than (vaccine eligible) kids 14-17, hopefully we can see progress resume on getting those cases down in November. But like a lot of other things right now, COVID continues to slog on in Wisconsin, in both high-visibility and low-key ways.
