With local elections coming up in 4 weeks in Wisconsin, this topic from John Oliver seems quite timely. It's all about "special districts", which are taxing entities for numerous types of services (mostly local), from school boards and library boards on down. It's the type of wonky geekiness that I find awesome to dig into, and it can lead to true hilarity, as seen with the New Hampshire mosquito abatement guys around 5:00.
My question: How do we not have mosquito abatement districts in Wisconsin? Or are they like the Emerald Ash Borer districts and I'm just not aware of it?
