If the bad guys can go all-out for bad things, why can't the good guys go all-out to get good things done?I think it’s really hard to talk about politics right now because the bad guys kind of won, and the people who are supposed to be the good guys seem to spend most of their time negotiating with the phantom decency they imagine the other side has

Time to deliver this week. Or find new leaders who can.
For all his “peace, love, and brotherhood” talk, Joe Biden isn’t stupid. He knows the Republican Party is beyond hope. Biden’s biggest—if not his only—task at this point is to get his fellow Democrats to agree on a reconciliation package. The moderates will have to give, and so will the progressives.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I’m delusional, but I really feel that if anyone can get this done, it’s Joe. The “peace and love” talk is just the feel-good crap he peddles to voters. Behind closed doors, I see him saying, “Let’s cut the bullshit. What do we all want? What do we all need? And how can we get it in a way that makes us look good?” And beneath his grin, he can be a dick. Great! You need that sometimes.
Joe Biden is a genuine patriot who wants what’s best for his country, but he also wants what’s best for him. He wants to be remembered as a great American president, and he’s going to bust his ass to get that done. He’s not Sleepy Joe, content with snoozing through his twilight years.
We will know soon if he is successful. If he isn’t, he’s screwed. We all are.
