Wisconsin's fake electors - "We were just following orders!"

Well this is an interesting story from our neck of the woods.

Oh, I see some words on the page. Tell me more, Molly!
As part of the settlement, the Republicans agreed not to serve as electors in the future or participate in the transmission of such documents again, among other terms. The defendants are no longer facing paying damages as well.
Well that isn't much of a punishment. But that's also not the real news that I got out of the story.
In the statement released by the false Trump electors, the Republicans wrote they met in the Wisconsin State Capitol to sign paperwork falsely claiming to be electors to be "in compliance with requests from the Trump campaign and Republican Party of Wisconsin."

"The Elector Defendants took the foregoing action because they were told that it was necessary to preserve their electoral votes in the event a court challenge may later change the outcome of the election in Wisconsin. That document was then used as part of an attempt to improperly overturn the 2020 presidential election results," the Republicans wrote.

"We oppose any attempt to undermine the public’s faith in the ultimate results of the 2020 presidential election. We hereby withdraw the documents we executed on December 14, 2020, and request that they be disregarded by the public and all entities to which they were submitted."
"IN COMPLIANCE WITH REQUESTS FROM THE TRUMP CAMPAIGN AND REPUBLICAN PARTY OF WISCONSIN"??? Sounds like a smoking gun to me. And it sounds like the WisGOP party hacks don't want to be blamed for the illegal garbage they tried to pull as part of this attempted coup.

And don't forget how those fake electors got inside of the State Capitol in the first place.
(State Sen. Chris) Larson and (then-State Rep. Jonathan) Brostoff assert that whoever reserved the room for the Republicans may be complicit in what they deem a likely crime. Through an open records request Larson received evidence that it was then-Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald who reserved the room. Fitzgerald was elected to Congress in the same election whose results he helped challenge. “The Congressman owes it to his constituents and the American people at large to condemn the actions of the fraudulent GOP electors. Failing to do so is an admission that he supports their attempt to overthrow the legitimate election of President Biden, including Wisconsin, which Biden won by nearly 21,000 votes,” wrote Larson in a statement. “As lawmakers, we have a special responsibility to respect the outcome of our elections, and by seemingly assisting those who would undermine that process, Congressman Fitzgerald will have committed acts that betray the oath he swore when he took office.”

Fitzgerald was sworn in on Jan. 3 [2021] and among his first acts as a newly minted congressman was to vote against certifying the election for Biden on Jan. 6. That came after the deadly attack by insurgents who invaded and trashed the U.S. Capitol in an effort to subvert democracy and the peaceful transition of power. Fitzgerald could not be reached for comment — nor has he made a public statement on the matter.
Hmm, seems like Jack Smith should be making a visit to the Congressman from Wisconsin's 5th District to see why he also followed the Trump Administration's orders, and voted to overturn the wishes of more than 1.63 million Wisconsinites.

I also hope that Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul saw this story. And this one.

Now that the "alternate electors" have admitted that what they did was illegal and fraudulent, I would hope AG Kaul has more than enough to make these folks (and the TrumpWorld lowlifes who gave their orders) head back to a courtroom very soon.
