Walker pulls the "patriotism" card, reminds us of how terribly he's treated the troops

More than 60 days are left before the November elections, and our "Unintimidated" Governor is already pulling this garbage.

And he had a series of these type of fake-triotism tweets, with a nice side order of dog-whistle racism on top of it. It's almost like he knows he's losing and is desperate (oh wait, here's another poll that says Tony Evers is up, this time by 4 points).

And does Scotty really want to talk about "supporting the troops/veterans?" Let me bring you back to 2012, and this story.
Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm said former Walker aide Tim Russell and Kevin Kavanaugh, the former treasurer of a Milwaukee-area veterans group, are accused of taking money meant for veterans, wounded soldiers and families of those killed in action to spend on expensive trips and personal items.

Another Walker staffer reported the missing money, sparking the John Doe investigation in May 2010, a court document shows.

A third man, Brian Pierick, Russell's longtime partner, was also arrested Thursday as part of the probe and faces charges of felony child enticement and causing a child to expose his genitals. Pierick's alleged crimes were uncovered during the John Doe investigation when law enforcement officials seized iPhones and computers belonging to Pierick and Russell, who live together.

Russell, 48, worked as a campaign staffer and as Walker's deputy chief of staff and county housing director during the governor's time as Milwaukee County executive. He was charged with three counts of embezzlement, two of them felonies, and faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $25,000, a criminal complaint said. He is accused of using some of the veterans' money on things like trips to Hawaii and the Caribbean.

Remember these guys?

And who put Russell in charge of those funds, which were supposed to be for a Scott Walker PR event with veterans and their families? SCOTT WALKER! And he took it away from the local American Legion branch, if I recall right.

In addition, if you go back to the criminal complaint against Russell, you'll notice that some of things that Russell used the funds for Purple Heart families for included buying up domain names like "Scott4Gov.com" "Scott4Gov.Info" and "MilwaukeeCountyExecutiveScottWalkerForGovernor.com" Oh, but I'm sure it was because Russell was just a Walker fan and not because he owed his paycheck to the guy.

Also, Scott Walker is so devoted to the men and women that have served this country in the armed forces that he allowed them to live in nursing homes which had water that looked like this.

And as the King Veterans Home's conditions deteriorated and continued to be understaffed, what did Scott Walker do with the money that home was generating? We found out in 2016.
...Pictures provided to the Cap Times by an employee who did not want to be named for fear of retribution show mold on a wall and a large red stain on the floor of a tub room where veterans are bathed once a week. Employees said the red stain was fixed and the mold was painted over, but remain concerned about the conditions of other tub rooms at King. Carpeting in one late-stage dementia unit is yet to be replaced after being soaked with urine, according to King employees who requested anonymity for fear of retaliation.

Veterans are packed into small rooms reminiscent of college dorms. Medical equipment, including the nurse paging system, is outdated and some functions minimally, former and current employees say. Beds are antiquated, some welded together. In one federal inspection report from earlier this year, inspectors found King did not have a control program for certain infections, a lapse that had the potential to affect 195 residents. The same report also found that residents were washed with dirty washcloths placed in the drain of a soiled sink.

As King makes millions in surplus revenue each year, state officials have increasingly transferred money away from the home to fund programs and salaries in Madison, a practice approved by the Legislature and Gov. Scott Walker.

Several former King employees who observed admission practices said the state keeps the homes as full as possible, alleging exceedingly sick veterans are accepted regardless of its capacity to care for them. More heads in King’s 721 beds means more money flows to the state from Medicaid, Medicare and the federal Department of Veterans Affairs.

State officials have used King’s money to subsidize its other veterans homes and have transferred more than $20 million in total since 2007 back to Madison to pay for other departmental expenses and salaries. The Department of Veterans Affairs plans to transfer another $18.6 million from King over the next two fiscal years, according to the Legislative Fiscal Bureau. This year, WDVA transferred $12 million out of the fund for the homes.
And when the State Legislature passed a resolution allowing for oversight of any transfers out of the Trust Fund, Walker vetoed it, allowing him to continue to move the money around as he wished. And the GOP Legislature refused to override it, despite a 16-0 vote for the oversight in the Joint Finance Committee.

Oh, but Scotty is a big-time supporter of our troops. Surrrre he is. It's digusting cynicism that assumes the average person won't look past skin deep on Walker's fake-triotism, and actually check his horrible record. But at the same time, it's so typical of a flailing fool that has no real core values beyond money and power.

  1. I’m curious as to why the Cap Times found it necessary to characterize Public Policy Polling as a “liberal group’s poll” in their headline and story. Especially when 67% of the respondents identified as either Independent or Republican. And a majority said they voted for Trump in 2016. Yet still no mention of Marquette Law School being a “conservative-leaning poll.”

    1. You've caught that too, huh? It's really head-shaking how media bows to right-wingers in subtle ways like that. Liberal media, MY ASS!

    2. Also a pet peeve- "a majority" did not vote for Trump in Wisconsin. Only 47% did, and fewer voted for Trump than Romney in 2012...as Romney was losing by 6+ to Obama.

I also wonder if our magical increase in redistribution aid is Trumpian rigging over a lucky break. We know Walker and Schimel both love to use tax dollars as their personal piggy bank for political gain/handouts.
